Iustitia de Libertad
Editorial Cover Design & Conceptual Illustration
A symbolic illustration merging justice, freedom, and duality through surreal visual metaphors.

Project Overview
Iustitia de Libertad is a conceptual editorial cover design created for a college publication exploring themes of justice, equality, and freedom. The project combines symbolic illustration with structured editorial design to produce a publication-ready magazine cover that communicates complex social values through a single, impactful visual narrative.
The artwork was designed to function across print and promotional contexts, balancing expressive illustration with clear typographic hierarchy and layout discipline suitable for a real-world editorial release.
Creative Approach
The visual concept is built around symbolic storytelling, using a central figure inspired by Lady Justice to represent balance, equity, and moral responsibility. Rather than a literal depiction, the illustration interprets justice as a layered and contested idea, blindfolded, restrained, yet grounded in ideals of fairness and truth.
Key creative decisions included:
Symbol-driven illustration to communicate justice, equality, and freedom without reliance on explanatory text
Strong central composition to establish immediate visual authority and cover impact
Controlled colour palette with neutral tones and red accents to emphasise tension, power, and urgency
Typographic restraint to ensure the illustration remains the focal point while maintaining editorial clarity
Print-aware layout design, ensuring legibility, margins, and hierarchy work effectively in a physical publication format
The final outcome balances conceptual depth with editorial practicality, demonstrating the ability to create visually striking covers that remain structured, readable, and publication-ready.
